To my son, where do I begin? This book was birthed because of you. You made me want to be better, do better, love better, and provide you with more than I could have ever envisioned. Thank you for your support. For the nights I needed some feedback. For your candid responses in relation to our life story, which I share. For the inspiration you are for me today and since God blessed me to carry you into this world. I am beyond honored to be your mother. The moment pictured is one I’ll cherish forever. Behind me, camera in hand, is my one and only Son-shine. My photographer. This moment speaks volumes for the emotions I’m still feeling for the upcoming release of “Enough with the Secrets Mama!” 

And in this moment, all I know to do is pray:

“God, I can’t even conceive the expanse of Your love or the unique plan You have for my life. Please fill me with your wisdom and understanding. Give me eyes to see people the way you see them- with love and compassion.”

It took me some time to find my voice… yet I found it. As I heard Him say, “Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid…” Isaiah‬ ‭58‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬ I realized that sharing my story was as much for others as it was for myself. The need to be fully transparent, honest in my struggles, and open with my journey. That. That came with Grace. And here we are. 

This is only the beginning of what I’ve been sharing for years behind the scenes. I pray to be a source of healing for others who can relate to the pain, the shame, the failures, and all the things that have held us hostage. 

For all the dreams turned reality. All the sacrifices worth making. All the ridicule endured. To all the children who served as translators for their non-English speaking parents. The change of pace turned into a change of lifestyle. To daughters struggling in their maternal relationships. The survivors of Domestic Violence. The survivors of child molestation. Immigrant families held captive by the fear of failure. This. This is for YOU.
